at UWC

The University of the Western Cape has two dedicated initiatives which form part of our commitment to addressing the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the country.

Centre for Research in HIV and AIDS

TheUWC Centre for Research in HIV and AIDS (CRHA)was created to foster synergies among UWC research teams and develop major new research efforts to build an African and global centre of excellence. It will actively engage communities, schools, the health system, and gender and social equity advocates in developing, conducting, sharing, and applying research and teaching.

HIV & AIDS Programme

The University of the Western Cape's (UWC) HIV and AIDS Programme was established in 2001 in recognition of the significant impact that the HIV and AIDS epidemic has on the university’s student and staff population.

The HIV and AIDS Programme has developed a model integrated response to the epidemic that incorporates teaching, research, care and support, community outreach, advocacy, prevention and management of the epidemic.
